Work continues on drawing up the UNESCO Dolomites Foundation Overall Management Strategy. The document will be ready by the end of the year and the various operating network managers recently held a meeting at the Bletterbach Geoparc in Aldino.
The sustainable tourism strategy, an integral part of the overall management strategy, is the result of the work done by the UNESCO Dolomites Foundation and the provinces and regions whose territories are part of the World Heritage Site, acting in synergy. This participatory process gathered ideas and suggestions, many of which were raised at the #DOLOMITES2040 workshops, and the final document will be a key part of the Overall Management Strategy for the Dolomites that has to be approved by UNESCO in 2016.
During the meeting held at the Bletterbach Geoparc in Aldino, the representatives of the various operating networks delved more deeply into the details of their various action campaigns, analysing the main issues during a series of workshops. According to Marcella Morandini, Director of the UNESCO Dolomites Foundation, “This enabled us to take a major step forward toward the finalisation of the plan”. The five operating networks are Development, Sustainable Tourism and Mobility, Geology, Protected Areas and Landscape, Research and Education.
