The 26th edition of the Pelmo d’Oro award, organised by the Province of Belluno, will take place on 27 July at Sala degli Elefanti, Birreria Pedavena (Belluno). Here, the voices and stories of those who climb, live and document the Dolomites blend with the great emotion of the audience, for one of the most keenly awaited and popular events focused on the Belluno mountains and beyond. The jury for the Award, made up of representatives of the local authority, the President of the Province of Belluno and the President of the BIM Piave Consortium, has decided to present Alessandro Rudatis with the Award for Active Mountaineering, Diego Dalla Rosa with the Mountaineering Career Award, Don Sergio Sacco Sonador with the Alpine Culture Award, Matteo Righetto with the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Special Award, Pieranna Casanova with the Giuliano De Marchi Special Award, and Lisa Vittozzi with the Pelmo d’Oro Special Award.
In this interview, writer Matteo Righetto, who has already received the 2019 Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Special Award, in the context of PordenoneLegge, answers our questions on the harsh yet enchanting quality of the natural and human landscapes that feature in his novels, and on the future of the Dolomites, considering, as the motivation for the award states, “his constant reminder of our responsibility to preserve them and to travel through them consciously and respectfully”.
