Reliving the 2025 summer geotrekking experiences

The intense September skies have already marked the passing of the season and closed the chapter on a summer characterized, among other things, by extensive debate on sustainable mountain tourism There has been no shortage of initiatives aimed precisely at promoting slowness and awareness, key words for walking the trails with a deeper and more mindful perspective.

Four gateways to a single journey through time

This was the case with the Geotrekking initiatives organized by the UNESCO Dolomites Foundation in the Puez-Odle Nature Park, the Friulian Dolomites Nature Park, the Adamello Brenta Nature Park, and the Ampezzo Dolomites Nature Park.

Accompanied by geologists, naturalist guides, park representatives, and welcomed by mountain hut managers, participants were able to devote an entire day to discovering the geological heritage of the Dolomites, experiencing – through the senses and a spirit of sharing – contact with geological landscapes that tell a story spanning three hundred million years.

For those who could not take part, here are the video stories of the four days:

July 17 – Circular hike around Sass de Putia (BZ)

August 22 – Val Zemola, ending at Rifugio Maniago (PN)

August 27 – From Vallesinella to Rifugio Alimonta (TN)

September 4 – From Malga Ra Stua to Rifugio Biella (BL)

This activity is part of the project “Capacity building. Strengthening the social and regional capital of the Dolomites World Heritage Site (WHS) for lasting and sustainable development of local communities”, established with the support of Fondo Comuni Confinanti.
