Trento Film Festival 2017: UNESCO Dolomites Special Prize
The Trento Film Festival, the international festival dedicated to the mountains and exploration
is scheduled to take place in Trento from 27 April to 7 May
This year the Dolomites will play a leading role at the festival, thanks to the
“UNESCO Dolomites World Heritage” Special Prize
The UNESCO Dolomites Foundation, in conjunction with SAT – Società degli Alpinisti Tridentini, has set up a special UNESCO Dolomites prize for 2017 which will be presented during the international festival dedicated to the mountains, climbing and exploration: the Trento Film Festival. Active involvement like this by the Foundation helps strengthen local ties and promote UNESCO values both in Italy and further afield.
SAT – Società Alpinisti Tridentini and the Foundation have set up the ‘UNESCO Dolomites World Heritage’ prize to mark the 65th anniversary of the Trento Film Festival. Documentaries in the territory, environment, sustainable tourism, culture, geology, sport, landscape and UNESCO properties categories will be eligible for this prestigious award. The film which most successfully raises awareness within the communities of the outstanding universal values of the UNESCO Dolomites and the ability to carry out active conservation will be judged the winner.
Trento Film Festival 2017 – in its 65th year
Founded in 1952, the Trento Film Festival is the oldest international film festival that celebrates the mountains, adventure and exploration. It has been a benchmark in this field for more than sixty years and over that time has become a real workshop for visions and ideas on the high lands of our Earth, embracing an ever-increasing range of interests, including environmental and cultural issues and current affairs, making the scope and programme of the festival even more varied and stimulating.
